    Here are all of the sections of a garment industry have been described briefly.

    1. Sample section
    2. Cutting section
    3. Sewing section
    4. Finishing section

    1. Sample Section :
    It is the first section of garment manufacturing process. This section is used in apparel industry for-

    a) To make sample garment for approval.
    b) To make pattern sets for bulk production when needed.

    2. Cutting Section :
    It is the second section of apparel manufacturing. In this section the following works are completed-

    a) Marker Making
    b) Fabric Spreading
    c) Fabric Cutting

    3. Sewing Section :
    Garment’s cut parts are assembled here.

    4. Finishing Section :
    It is the last step of garment making. All of the finishing processes are done here. Let yourself know what kinds of work are to be carried out in this segment-

    a) Pressing/ Ironing
    b) Packing
    c) Cartooning &
    d) Arranging final inspection and shipment.

    1. Sample Section :
    It is the first section of garment manufacturing process. This section is used in apparel industry for-

    Following instruction must be marked on apparel pattern, to enable the garment to be made up correctly: -
    1. Style Number.
    2. Name of the part
    3. Size ( it will show you how to find your size on a pattern finished garment measurements)
    4. Grain Line: All patterns must have grain lines. It indicates the length direction of fabrics, i.e. during marker making all patterns must be placed to the length direction.
    5. Balance Mark: Used to ensure patterns are sewn together at the correct points.
    6. Construction Lines: These include button holes, pocket placing etc.

    2. By Computer (CAD).

    Principles of Pattern Making:
    A garment sewing pattterns or garment fabric & patterns draft is developed by calculating, taking account of the following measurements: -

    1. Direct Sample.
    2. Specification Sheet/ Measurement Chart.
    3. Actual body size measurements.
    4. Easy Allowances.
    5. Sewing Allowance.

    Pattern Draft:
    A pattern draft is a diagrammatic representation of the way a garment is constructed. The objective of pattern draft is to develop a sample garment.

    Pattern Sets:
    Different sizes of pattern for a particular style are called pattern sets, e.g. L.M.S.

    Production Pattern:
    The pattern se which are used for huge production is called production pattern.

    Experiment name: Study on beating-up mechanism .

    Objects:

    1.To know about the construction of the mechanism.

    2.To know about the drive of the beating-up mechanism.

    Introduction:

    The beating-up is the third primary motion of weaving. It consists in driving the last pick of weft to the fell of the cloth. This is accomplished with the help of a reed fixed in the sley. The sley is given a sudden and quick movement towards the fell of the cloth by the cranks in the crankshaft. The sleywood runs from one shuttle box to another, and when at its backward movement, the shuttle travels over its race.


    Main parts:

    1.Crankshaft 

    2.Crank 
    3.Crank arm 
    4.Reed cap 
     
    5.Reed
    6.Sley race
    7.Sley
    8.Sleysword

    Description:
    The crankshaft gets drive from motor via motor pulley and m/c pulley. The crankshaft has two cranks. These cranks transform the rotary motion into swinging motion. The reed cap is connected by crank arm to crank of the crankshaft. Again the reed is connected between reed cap and sley. There is sleysword under the sley that is bolted to the rocking shaft. There is also shuttle box on the sley. Now the crank gives the swinging motion to the sley by crank arm. When the sley is moving towards the healdshaft at certain position the shuttle passes through warp shed. Again when the sley is coming towards the front rest at last position the reed pushes the last pick to the previous pick of cloth. This is the beating-up motion and the cloth increases in lengthwise in this way.


    Conclusion:

    To make a woven fabric interlacement of warp and weft yarns is the main condition. That’s why beating-up mechanism is a very essential motion for weaving. Proper setting and adjustment should be taken for this motion. This practical helps me to know about beating-up motion. I think this will help me in my future career.

    Experiment name: Garments Inspection.

    Introduction:

    Quality is very important to buyer or user and it is increasing day by day. Mainly two processes are followed to control quality –
    i) testing & 
    ii) inspection.

    Objective:

    To know about inspection of garments.

    Description:

    The inspection used for controlling the quality of garment is done by testing with blank eyes. This involves testing the cloth, sewing, thread, button, measurement etc. according to the required standard or specification. In garments industry inspection is done in 3 steps:

    1. Raw material inspection
    2. In process inspection
    3. Final inspection

    In final inspection mainly garments size, form fitting and faults are inspected. Size that is measurement given in label is inspected with the required measurement. There are standard measurements for both man and woman dresses.

    Experiment name: Practical Study of Working Aids.

    Introduction:
    In the domestic production of garments 80% of the time is wasted for the handling of fabric. Other 20% used for sewing. To reduce this wastage in industrial production of garments work aids required. These work aids are not only used to reduce the handling time but also used to improve the quality of the garments and labour of the operator.

    Objectives: 
    1.  To get familiar with the work aids 
    2.  To know the different functions of the work aids  
    3.  To know the use of work aids in different sewing and garments making sequences
    Work Aids:
    • Specialized pressure foot  
    • Compensating foot  
    • Forceps  
    • Cutting knife  
    • Pliers  
    • Hammers  
    • Scissors  
    • Star screw driver.
    Specialized pressure foot:
    These types of pressure feet used for the insertion of piping and elastic through the garments. These are also helpful in stitching narrow border of the piping.

    Compensating foot:
    These types of pressure feet have two section and these are spring connected. These are use for sewing plies of different thickness. These can also used for sewing very narrow border. Compensating pressure foot is used in patch pocket, collar closing seam etc.

    Forceps:
    This working aid is used to hold very fine material such as thread. This also used to unravel the faulty stitches, to connect the fine machine parts etc.

    Cutting knife:
    Cutting knife is use to cut the thread after sewing if there automatic stitch breaking element is not present in the sewing machine.

    Pliers:
    This work element is used to machine maintenance and settings.

    Hammer:
    This work element is also used to machine maintenance and settings.

    Scissors:
    Scissors are greatly used in the garments industries. This element is mainly used for cutting thread, small garment parts, pattern board, fusing etc.

    Star screw driver:
    This work element is used to machine maintenance and settings.

    Conclusion:
    In this experiment we discuss the different use of different work aids. Their figures have also drawn. This study about these work aids will make us able to maintain quality and reduce the wastage of time due to handling of garments.
